February 11, 2011-Japan Celebrates National Foundation Day (建国記念の日Kenkoku kinen-no-hi) today.

The year 2011 is the 23rd year of Heisei (平成23年) since Japan's Imperial Household Agency made an official announcement of the Demise of The Emperor Hirohito on January 7, 1989, and Prince Akihito succeeded to become the 125th Emperor of Japan. Japan celebrates the 2,671st anniversary of its founding.

May your reign
Continue for a thousand, eight thousand generations,
Until the pebbles
Grow into boulders
Lush with moss
Poetic English by English Professor  Basil Hall Chamberlain
Thousands of years of happy reign be thine;
Rule on, my lord, till what are pebbles now
By ages united to mighty rocks shall grow
Whose venerable sides the moss doth line.

Japan's national anthem is said to be the oldest known and existing national anthem in the world.

Nada Sou Sou-Tearful

Ms. Rimi Natsukawa is a well-known J-pop, folk, Ryukyuan music and Enka singer from Ishigaki Jima, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan. In this video, she sings Nada Sou Sou in Japanese (with English words).

Ishigaki Jima, Okinawa Prefecture reminds us of Senkaku Islands around which the Chinese fishing boat rammed the Japan Coast Guard ships after it violated Japan's territorial waters.

The Chinese trawler captain whom China claimed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of crashing into the Japan Coast Guard ships must have been attracted by her beautiful song on radio or something.

For those who wish to sing with her in Japanese, I have prepared words written in Romanized letters.
